Wisconsin Department of Revenue
     The mission of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue is to administer state and local taxes in a fair, equitable and efficient manner while advocating sound tax policies and providing property tax relief.

     The department administers all major state tax laws.  The department estimates state revenues, forecasts state economic activity, helps formulate tax policy, and administers the Wisconsin Lottery.  The department also determines equalized value of taxable property, administers local financial assistance programs and assists local governments in their property assessments and financial management.
 
     The department processes 2.9 million individual income tax documents each year and collects over $11 billion in state revenues annually.  The department also provides taxpayer assistance and education regarding state tax laws, filing requirements, eligibility for state tax credits, deductions and exemptions.  The department provides free electronic filing options and accurate and understandable information through the  department's forms and publications.
